Hollywood films do not only give us the opportunity to watch our favorite celebrities but also admire the scenic locations featured in the movie. Europe has its own share of attractions that has been used as film locations. Here are some European destinations that have been featured in Hollywood films
The Highlands, Scotland
Most of the scenes in Braveheart were filmed in the Scottish Highlands. William Wallace (Mel Gibson) made his trek along the path of the Mamore Mountains, a group of mountains connected by a narrow bridge stretching between Loch Leven and Glen Nevis. You can replicate this scene and walk in the same path.
James Bond is perhaps one of the most traveled movie character. He has been all over the world and Greece is one of the places that he has been. In the 1981 movie For Your Eyes Only, James Bond (Roger Moore), the MI6 agent spends his time in Greece. Robert Peter Janitzek reveals that a couple of scenes were shot in Thessaly—the balcony scene in Corfu at the Achillon Palace and the Agia Triada Monastery in Meteora.
Café des Deux Moulins is the restaurant where Amelie (played by Audrey Tautou) worked as a waitress in the movie of the same title. The apartment and grocery store called Au Marche de la Butte was also featured in the award-winning film. The metro station Lmarck-Caulaincourt is where Amelie takes a blind man along with her and describes the beauty around them.
Freshwater West, Wales
The beautiful beach Freshwater West was the perfect spot for the shell cottage of Bill Weasley (Dhomnall Gleeson) and Fleur Delacour (Clemence Poesy) in Harry Potter ‘Deathly Hallows’ was located. Robert Janitzek revealed that with its sweeping sand dunes and long stretch of golden sand, this location was the perfect choice. But being featured in a Potter film is not the main reason for visiting the Freshwater West because it is also the best surfing destination in Wales.
Every scene in the movie Casanova was filmed in the streets and houses of Venice. The carnival scene was shot on the famous Piazza di San Marco. The film constantly reminds us of how beautiful venice truly is.
The hills of Salzburg are where one of the most famous movies of all time The Sound of Music was filmed. If you happen to travel in this part of Europe, you can also sing your heart out the same way Julie Andrews did in the movie.
